Health Care Organizing Kickoff-Ohio Health Care Plan HB 159

Home of Chuck Watts -

4113 W State Route 73 -

Wilmington, OH 45177 -

Please RSVP -

Receive an update on HB 159, the Ohio Health Care Plan, and HR 676, Medicare for All, both of which are currently the only doctor/patient-run health care system bills that have been introduced.
The alternatives seem to be a variation of the current denial of care system promoted by the insurance and pharmaceutical industries.
During the Great Depression, Social Security was born. FDR did NOT lead the charge, but did NOT block the initiative either. He challenged citizens to make him sign a Social Security bill, i.e. send him a bill. Before Congress sent him a bill, several state legislatures sent their governors a similar bill to sign.
Social Security became a reality because of strong, empathetic and responsible citizen involvement. I hope you'll come join me in this fight.

Weekend of Free Health Care

Called MedWorks, this event allows patients who have made an appointment to see volunteer doctors for free from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 25 and Sunday, July 26, 2009 at the W.O. Walker Center, 10524 Euclid Ave, Cleveland. SPAN Ohio supporters plan to gather at 8 a.m. on Saturday the 25th to call attention to the fact that, laudable as it is, MedWorks would not be necessary if America had a single-payer health care system that provided health care for all. If you would like to participate, just show up at 8 a.m. and bring a sign that indicates why you are there. Example:"Medicare for all - Not Medworks for a few - Pass HR676!" (or, "Pass the Health Care for All Ohioans Act!").  If you have a SPAN T-shirt, please wear it.
PARKING: There is no good parking for us.  There may not be any street parking in the immediate vicinity.  You may or may not be able to use the lot that registered patients for this Medworks clinic are using on 105th.   There is a parking garage across E 107th on the other side of the W.O. Walker Center, or a Cleveland Clinic parking garage at E. 100 and Carnegie.  (of course you have to pay to park there).  There may be some free parking, you could call me about that.
